U.S. President Donald Trump was accorded a traditional welcome in the United Arab Emirates with a performance of Al-Ayyala.

What is AL-Ayyala?
Al-Ayyala is a traditional performing art practiced in the Sultanate of Oman and the United Arab Emirates.

Recognized by UNESCO in 2014 as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Al-Ayyala involves chanted poetry, drum music, and dance, simulating a battle scene.

Two rows of about 20 men face each other, carrying thin bamboo sticks to signify spears or swords. Musicians play large and small drums, tambourines, and brass cymbals between the rows.

In the UAE, girls wearing traditional dresses stand at the front, tossing their long hair from side to side.

Al-Ayyala is traditionally performed during weddings, national holidays, and other festive occasions in Oman and the UAE.

It serves as a symbol of national identity and unity, bringing together performers from diverse backgrounds and age groups.
