• Given by Global Footprint Network, a group that uses UN data to calculate Earth Overshoot Day(EOD) . 
  • It is the day when humanity overshoots the planet’s ability to recover from the resources we consume within each year  i.e. regrow the trees cut down, absorb the CO2 emitted & replenish the seas with the fish harvested. 
  • At this rate, it would take 1.75 Earths to sustainably meet the current demands of humanity. 
  • July 28 was EOD for the year 2022.
