It is one of the world’s largest atolls and a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Seychelles( Indian Ocean).

It comprises four main islands of coral limestone separated by narrow sea passages and encloses a large shallow lagoon.

It is home to endemic giant Aldabra tortoises.

Coral reefs here witnessed bleaching in 2015.

A recent study showed faster recovery due to tolerance to heat stress.

Note: An Atoll is a ring shaped coral reef that surround body of water .i.e. Lagoon.
